Quay LaneAt the bottom of the Market Hill, beyond the library is Friars Street, which holds many attractive old buildings. 400 metres along Friars Street is Quay Lane. Quay Lane is a the centre of many leisure activities. It leads between the cricket club and tennis courts and bowling green to the Quay Theatre and the Granary and the scout's headquarters. The Quay TheatreThe Quay Theatre is a very popular facility in a restored maltings on a cut
on the River Stour. It offers a year-round programme of dance, music, drama,
film and children's theatre. There is a bar, and frequent exhibitions of local
painters. The River Stour TrustThe River Stour Trust is based in The Granary, a restored 18th century
building once owned by The River Stour Navigation Company. It now houses the
Sudbury Riverside Exhibition and Museum. The building is available for private
functions and there are regular events throughout the summer. Boat trips down
the Stour start here and cream teas are available at summer weekends. |
